"Dogs Just Wanna Have Fun" On-line Exhibition
Visit the Canine Art Guild website to view an exhibition of work by artists from across North America who share a common bond in their love of dogs: www.canineartguild.com. Deborah has two pieces featured:

Happiness is a Rescued Collie

Hand-painted silk (2007) • Available
Artist's note: My dog Riley came to me through the local collie "rescue" group, a handful of volunteers who assist in placing unwanted dogs in permanent, loving homes. Since adopting Riley, I've had the pleasure of attending a couple of get-togethers with other collie adopters. We bring our dogs to a local park and let them enjoy one another's company while we share our stories of how these wonderful dogs came into our lives and how we have been enriched by them. One thing is certain: these dogs bring us all immense joy. Many of them came from difficult circumstances of neglect and abuse, but to see them romping together you would think they never had a care in the world. They epitomize sheer joy, and watching them inspired this piece.

Crystal
Coloured pencil (2007) • Commission
Artist's note: This sweet girl captured my heart when she visited my home in preparation for me to create her portrait. She sat on my sofa with such dignity while her owner and I chatted, and she posed gracefully for my camera, granting me a charming "smile" now and then. Her gentle, happy spirit is reflected in the expression captured in her portrait.
