Published by Critter Care Wildlife Society, this charming children's book was written by Mavis Sutton and illustrated/designed by Deborah Strong. It chronicles the story of a momma black bear and her curious cub Bradley and their adventures in their forest home. Just like any bear cub, Bradley's curiosity sometimes gets the better of him as the other forest creatures look on! 100% of the funds raised through the sales of this book benefit the Critter Care Wildlife Society's animal rehabilitation centre, where injured and orphaned native mammals are nursed back to health and released into the wild. Species include opossums, skunks, squirrels, raccoons, coyotes, black bears and others. Critter Care is a non-profit society that relies on public generosity and volunteers to keep its doors open. Please consider purchasing a copy of A Day By the River or simply making a donation to support the animals. For more information about Critter Care, visit their website at www.crittercarewildlife.org. The books are priced at $15.00 (CAD) each and can be purchased directly from Critter Care or by contacting the artist. Original illustrations from the book are also available for purchase. Framed in attractive wood frames using archival matting, each of the nine unique illustrations were hand-drawn and painted by Deborah using ink and watercolour. They are available for purchase by donation. The illustrations are pictured below (3 are still available to date; framed size is 12"x16"). For more information contact the artist. |
