DEBORAH STRONG
one artist... one passion... two styles

horse portraits

Horses have played an important role in Deborah's life since her first Shetland pony at the age of five. The love of her life was Duke, the palomino Saddlebred-Quarterhorse whose portrait you'll see at the bottom of this page. Deborah's life-long affinity for horses has made them a favourite subject of her art and one for which she has a deep connection. Each of her coloured pencil horse portraits is lifelike and sensitively rendered.

My Horse Duke

Artist's collection (prints are available)
Duke was my best friend from the time he was two years old till he passed away in 2003, just shy of his 30th birthday. A plaque in the "Spirit of the Horse" Memorial Gardens sums up my feelings: "He carried me away from my cares for nearly three decades. I will cherish his memory forever in my heart."
