One spring I walked from coast
to coast across the United Kingdom following the path of Hadrian's Wall, built
centuries ago by its namesake Roman emperor
to keep the Scottish hoards at bay. Through a range of diverse settings from urban, to
rural, to wild and rugged, I don't think a day passed that my party and I didn't
see lambs, lambs and more lambs. They were all sizes, ages and varieties, and
could be found frolicking in pastures, munching green grass or snoozing
in the shade a helpful tree. At one point we spotted them clambering on the
remnants of the 2,000 year old wall itself!
